Official: Totti misses Manchester
Monday 7 April, 2008

Roma have named their squad for Wednesday’s Champions League trip to Manchester United and Francesco Totti isn’t on the list.

The Giallorossi need to produce something special at Old Trafford to reverse the 2-0 defeat from the first leg at the Stadio Olimpico last week.

However, the capital club’s chances of pulling off one of Europe’s greatest shocks have been severely dented by the news that inspirational captain Totti, who had to sit out the home fixture, will also miss the return game.

Totti damaged his left thigh during the Lupi’s Week 31 draw at Cagliari on March 29, but had hoped to return for the quarter-finals.

Luciano Spalletti will have to do without Er Pupone in Manchester, but he will be able to call upon Simone Perrotta, who was suspended for the first leg.

Montenegrin marksman Mirko Vucinic will lead the line with Amantino Mancini and Rodrigo Taddei likely to play behind in the trequartista position.

David Pizarro is favourite to stand in for Alberto Aquilani, as the Azzurri midfielder still isn’t at 100 per cent.

Juan could return to the team to replace Christian Panucci, who captained the side in the Olimpico fixture.

Roma squad: Antunes, Aquilani, Brighi, Cassetti, Cicinho, Curci, De Rossi, Doni, Esposito, Giuly, Juan, Mancini, Mexes, Panucci, Perrotta, Pizarro, Taddei, Tonetto, Vucinic, Zotti
