Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has denied the club are interested in signing Sampdoria fantasista Antonio Cassano this summer.
Roberto Donadoni, the newly installed Partenopei Coach, yesterday said he would be delighted to bring Cassano to San Paolo.
I like Cassano a lot because I have always admired those who others sometimes consider to be rebels and that I instead consider to be blessed with notable personality, De Laurentiis said.
However, I believe Napoli are going in a completely different direction to that Cassano is taking, De Laurentiis concluded.
Cassano has been subjected to a lot of speculation in recent weeks, most notably linking him with a move to Turin giants Juventus this summer.
The 26-year-old has resurrected his career with Sampdoria since joining the Blucerchiati from Real Madrid in 2007.
Italians were outraged last week when Cassano was left out of the Azzurri squad for World Cup qualifiers against Montenegro and the Republic of Ireland.
The former Bari and Roma starlet has made 29 appearances for Sampdoria this season and is widely regarded as the secret to their success.
