Antonio Di Natale won’t be able to play again this season, but he “saw in a dream” his Udinese teammates will win the UEFA Cup.
“Before the draw for the quarter-finals I had a dream we would be paired with Werder Bremen and that’s what happened,” smiled the striker.
“This week I dreamed that I lifted the UEFA Cup. Let’s hope that one comes true as well.”
If he does get to the Final, he will have to watch from the stands, as he’ll be out for the rest of the season due to a partially torn knee ligament he sustained during Italy’s 2-0 victory in Montenegro.
“It was a terrible moment and I understood straight away how serious it was. The moment I put my foot down I slipped and felt a very strong pain.
“Just think that during the warm-up I had used the boots with 13 studs, then at the last moment switched to six. It was destiny.
“I thank everyone from the Coach to the fans and the President who all tried to lift my spirits. The Nazionale squad was also very close to me.”
Di Natale underwent keyhole surgery to examine the injury and it was decided he does not need an operation that would keep him out for six months.
“The Italy medic Doctor Castellacci told me straight away that he didn’t think anything was broken and that helped calm me,” he revealed.
“When I woke up after the keyhole surgery and they told me it was alright, I felt like I’d just won the European Championship.
“Now I have to undergo treatment for about 25 days, then another test and in a month I’ll return to Barcelona to hear what the specialist has to say.”
