Serie B side Spezia have been rescued from bankruptcy by their fans coming together to buy out the club.
The outfit was on the verge of disappearing off the football map after former President Giuseppe Ruggieri failed to find a new owner to bolster their finances.
Already on a one-point penalty, Spezia risked further sanctions if they did not balance the books before the end of the season.
So a group of supporters came together to buy out the 70 per cent shares that were held by Ruggieri.
The association La Spezia siamo noi (we are Spezia) raised £605,000 to keep the club afloat.
