Sampdoria have agreed a date with Real Madrid to discuss the permanent transfer of striker Antonio Cassano.
The fiery Bari native has been inspirational this term at Marassi after joining on loan from the Spanish champions.
Cassano has rediscovered the potential that he failed to live up to at Roma and is enjoying life in the Blucerchiati shirt.
The 25-year-old has stressed his desire to stay at Samp when his loan deal expires at the end of the season and has even agreed to a vast pay cut to tie him to the club until 2013.
However, Reals transfer fee may prove problematic. Doria are reportedly looking to pay just £4.3m and have little financial leverage.
A meeting has been scheduled for May 20 between Samp sporting director Beppe Marotta, his Merengues counterpart Predrag Mijatovic and Cassanos agent Beppe Bozzo.
