Semioli's UEFA faith
Wednesday 30 April, 2008

Fiorentina winger Franco Semioli believes the Viola can overcome Rangers tomorrow night and reach the Final of the UEFA Cup.

The Tuscans were held to a 0-0 at Ibrox in the first leg, despite dominating proceedings, and must now beat the Scots on home soil.

Cesare Prandelli’s men are also concentrating on the race for fourth place and their position was weakened by a last-gasp Sampdoria equaliser in last weekend’s 2-2 draw.

“We were in pieces after Daniele Gastaldello’s goal on Sunday and we all stayed sitting in the dressing room for longer than usual,” Semioli revealed.

“But we are aware of our abilities and we believe that we can win the three games left and play in the Champions League.

“On top of that we are aiming for the UEFA Cup Final. We showed great spirit in the first game against Rangers and it has given us a huge injection of belief for the return leg.

“Thursday’s game is a season decider and more than ever we need to be at our best. We have a great chance to get to the Final.

“We won’t feel tiredness because we are too motivated and we can count on our fans.”

Fiorentina-Rangers is virtually sold out with 42,000 home seats accounted for and 2,500 away tickets sold.
