Milan striker Ronaldo has responded to allegations that he had a drug-fuelled rendezvous with a transvestite prostitute last Sunday night.
The Brazilian ace is currently recovering from severing a tendon in his knee back in February and has returned to his homeland for the next stage of his rehabilitation.
Ronnies name was splashed all over Brazils newspapers when transvestite Andre Albertini claimed in the Folhe de Sao Paulo that he took cocaine with the marksman in a hotel in Rio De Janeiro before receiving payment for sex acts.
However, Ronaldo claims he was the victim of an attempt at extortion and that he refused to pay Albertini £12,000 to stop him fabricating the story for the Press.
There are no accusations for Ronaldo to answer, a statement on El Fenomenos website reads.
An active supporter of social causes, he has never used drugs and is an idol to youngsters all over the world. All the evidence points to a case of extortion with Ronaldo as the victim.
Reports state that the gifted hitman spent Sunday night in a police station where he repeatedly stated, This could end my career, as he waited to give his statement to the authorities.
The police have indicated that there will be no investigation into the allegations against Ronaldo, but the episode may have left a lasting stain on his reputation.
