Mou: I'm like Robin Hood
Thursday 2 April, 2009

Inter Coach Jose Mourinho has sparked controversy again by attacking his rivals and comparing himself with Robin Hood and Jesus Christ.

The 46-year-old Portuguese made the comments as a guest on Chiambretti Night, a TV show broadcast on Italia 1.

“Training Inter, I feel a little like Robin Hood,” Mourinho said. “Even Jesus Christ wasn't liked by everybody, what hope is there for me.”

The former Chelsea boss then took the opportunity to lay into his rivals, first Milan and then Juventus.

“We have Inter Channel that has 45,000 subscribers,” he explained. “Milan have the TV, newspapers and many more things, while Juve have Tuttosport and all that comes behind it.”

Mourinho then insinuated that Juventus and Milan have often received preferential treatment, especially when it comes to refereeing decisions.

He questioned why Adriano had been given a suspension for scoring with his hand and not Del Piero and Inzaghi, who have done so recently.

“What is the difference between the suspension Adriano received after the derby and the goals scored by Del Piero and Inzaghi?”

“It's intellectual prostitution,” he said, using the phrase he coined last month. “It doesn't bother me if people hate me. The interisti know the job I do for them.”

Claudio Ranieri, the Juventus Coach who Mourinho called “old” earlier this season, was also not safe from the man nicknamed “Chairman Mou” by the Italian Press.

“I have won 13 titles. It's clear that, for a trainer who has won nothing, a Italian Super Cup becomes a great trophy,” he said.

“Chelsea called me first of all to win the English Premier League, so what have I not been able to do…

“Ranieri is a great Coach, his team plays well. For this reason they are seven points behind us and the title race isn't over, that's all credit to Juve.”

Mourinho could not resist making a jibe at Carlo Ancelotti, who has received a lot of his abuse lately.

“I consider Sir Alex Ferguson the best Coach in the world. He is 68 and has won two Champions League trophies.

“I have won one, but we'll see what I have in my trophy cabinet in 23 years time. In the history of many clubs there are Coaches that have never won the Champions League.

“But there is also a club and a Coach that was 3-0 up in a Champions League Final and lost,” Mourinho concluded, referring to Ancelotti.
