Torino defender Hernan Paolo Dellafiore has been banned after referee Domenico Celi mistakenly booked him twice without a red card.
The referee had maintained throughout the past few days that he had booked teammate Marco Pisano rather than Dellafiore for the penalty foul on Simone Perrotta.
However, replays clearly show it could be nobody else and today Celi confessed he had made a mistake in writing down the shirt number.
Toro went on to lose 4-1 at Roma, although they should have gone down to 10 men.
Due to the protests of several Torino players, I did not manage to immediately write down the number of the booked individual in my book, explained Celi.
Once I managed to do so, I mistakenly wrote Number 3 rather than Number 15. Following this error, I failed to send off Dellafiore when he was booked again 18 minutes into the second half.
Because of that confession, the yellow card has been taken off Pisanos record and Dellafiore will be treated as if he did receive two bookings, so he is suspended for this weekends game.
Genoa striker Marco Di Vaio has been handed a two-match ban for insulting the referee, while Parma have been again cut down by the Disciplinary Commission with one-game suspensions for Massimo Paci, Luca Cigarini and Damiano Zenoni.
The other players banned for Week 36 are: Siviglia (Lazio), Juan (Roma), Abate (Empoli), Cannavaro (Napoli), Coppola (Siena), De Ascentis (Atalanta), De Vezze, Galante (Livorno), Lukovic (Udinese), Maggio (Sampdoria), Montolivo (Fiorentina), Fabiano (Genoa), Zaccardo (Palermo)
