Reports in the peninsula suggest that businessman George Soros has given up on his bid to take over Roma.
In recent months there have been regular rumours that the Sensi family are ready to sell their stake in the Giallorossi because their parent company Italpetroli are suffering from financial troubles.
Italpetroli have debts totalling around £290m and could relieve the pressure by retracting their interest in the Lupi.
Rosella Sensi seemed to be preparing to put down the reigns amd American tycoon Soros had admitted his desire to succeed her.
However, reports in Il Messaggero suggest that Soros has been put off by the asking price.
And UniCredit, who own 49 per cent of Italpetroli, have denied that they intend to instigate the sale of Roma.
We are a concerned spectator and nothing more, a spokesman insisted. The Sensi family will make decisions over a possible sale and they have complete freedom to do so.
Romas fans will await developments anxiously with the future direction of the club as yet unclear.
