Floccari frustrates Napoli
Tuesday 28 April, 2009

Atalanta have reached an agreement to sell Sergio Floccari to Napoli, but the player is more interested in a move to Genoa.

The 27-year-old Floccari has been a revelation this season, scoring 12 goals in 31 appearances for the Orobici.

“We have an agreement with Atalanta, now it's up to Floccari to give us a response,” De Laurentiis said. “We don't want to have to convince anyone.”

Napoli are reported to have offered between £11m and £12m for the former Mestre youngster, but Genoa have hijacked the deal at the last minute.

Enrico Preziosi, the Grifone's President, recently declared his club are more than just interested in Floccari, who is yet to be capped by Italy.

When asked about Floccari, Preziosi said: “Ours is more than simply interest, I believe that we will take him.”

In the meantime, Napoli have also spoken to Atalanta about the availability of former Italy Under-21 international Luca Cigarini.

The Partenopei had wanted Udinese's goalscoring midfielder Gaetano D'Agostino at all costs, but he is apparently not for sale.

Napoli are looking to make their side more Italian and although they have rejected the chance to sign Fabio Cannavaro, Milan striker Marco Borriello could well be their next target.
