Torino take on Roma against the odds again, but new boss Gianni De Biasi believes he can crack them.
The fixture list has not been kind to the tactician, who faced Inter in his first game since taking over from Walter Novellino and, despite dominating the encounter, came away with a 1-0 defeat.
“I have a strategy clear in my mind and, if things go the right way, I hope to see it through,” smiled De Biasi.
“Luciano Spalletti’s men are certainly superior in terms of technique, but I am sure that if we work hard and run them ragged the way we know how, then we can cause them problems.”
Only slack finishing prevented Toro from snatching a result against the Serie A leaders last week and now they face the runners-up.
Aimo Diana is a doubt due to a stomach bug, while part of the cunning plan is to place David Di Michele on the left flank.
“He will clash with Cicinho there and I am certain the Roma player will have problems faced with his runs.
“Roma are without Francesco Totti, but I don’t think that will make a big difference, as the team knows its movements so well and Mirko Vucinic is a dangerous front man.”
The Granata are desperate for points, but that is not the psychological approach De Biasi wants to see.
“Nobody is asking us to win at all costs in Rome. Of course getting a result there would be very important in terms of morale. They are a better side, but we certainly aren’t beaten before a ball has been kicked.”
Alvaro Recoba is set for the bench, so Alessandro Rosina and Roberto Stellone lead a 4-4-2 system.
