Livorno Coach Giancarlo Camolese warns there’s no room for spectacle when you’re propping up the table and taking on Milan.
“We just need points now,” said the tactician. “After the game against Juventus we received many compliments for our performance, but they scored three goals past us in 15 minutes and put the result beyond doubt.
“We must play for points, not compliments or entertainment value.”
It may sound cynical, but that is the only approach to take when in a situation as desperate as Livorno’s.
Even after last week’s surprise 1-1 draw away to Roma, they remain locked in last place alongside Reggina and Empoli.
On Sunday they welcome Milan to Tuscany and hope to cause another upset.
“We have to be careful, using hard work and energy to overcome the inevitable gap in technique between these teams,” continued Camolese.
“We must make the most of the few chances they will allow us. After all, it worked against Roma and it was unthinkable to challenge them any other way.
“Watching the Champions League semi-finals this week, my tactics aren’t too different from those used by Sir Alex Ferguson and Rafa Benitez. I guess this means I’m ready for the big time…”
Francesco Tavano and free kick specialist Alessandro Diamanti again lead a 4-4-1-1 formation with Milan transfer target Marco Amelia between the posts.
