Palermo goalkeeper Marco Amelia could be set for a sensational return to former club Roma, according to his agent.
The 27-year-old Italy understudy came through the ranks at Roma but never made an appearance for the first team.
Amelia, who was born in Frascati, left for Livorno in 2001, where he would make his name as a top goalkeeper.
The Labronici were relegated last season and Amelia joined Palermo despite making a series of overtures to Roma.
The coup of the next transfer market that no-one expects is Amelia going to Roma, Carlo Pallavicino said.
As part of the deal, Roma will reportedly sell their remaining 50 per cent stake in Gianluca Curci, who is currently at Siena.
Roma have grown increasingly frustrated with Doni and feel Artur, his stand-in, is not up to scratch.
The Giallorossi have conceded 48 goals this season, giving them the fifth worst defence in all of Serie A.
Roma are expected to do a lot of rebuilding this summer and have already been linked with a host of names.
Bari midfielder Stefano Guberti is in their sights while Jeremy Menez and Christian Panucci are now apparently no longer for sale.
Roma currently lie sixth in Serie A and have an outside chance of qualifying for next season's Champions League.
