Cordoba wants Mancio stay
Monday 21 April, 2008

Inter defender Ivan Cordoba is hoping Coach Roberto Mancini will extend his stay at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

The Colombian, who is out injured for the rest of the season, believes that the former Lazio boss has had a key role in the past few seasons of success at the Nerazzurri.

“We have to look at the present and at the moment we need to continue this way,” said the 31-year-old.

“Mancini has been important for Inter and thanks to his hard work we have managed to succeed.”

“I think it is important to give continuity to his work, although I cannot speak on the behalf of the Board.”

Cordoba also stated that his former teammate Adriano, now on loan at Sao Paulo, is eagerly awaiting his chance to return to San Siro.

“In my opinion he has a great will to come back and wants to re-start from where he left off a while ago.

“He feels like he owes it to all of us, but I think he will come back as strong as ever,” predicted the versatile defender.

Meanwhile, President Massimo Moratti explained the reason behind Mario Balotelli's substitution on Sunday evening.

The Nerazzurri bagged a 1-0 win against Torino, but their wonder kid was unexpectedly replaced just before the end of the first half.

“Mancini wanted to protect him because some players were picking on him. There was no big deal about it,” explained the Nerazzurri patron.
