Rossi drops Muslera
Sunday 20 April, 2008

Lazio Coach Delio Rossi admits goalkeeper Nestor Muslera has blown his chances and will be dropped back on to the bench.

The young South American was signed as the star of the future, but after two costly howlers in consecutive games, he is set to make way for 43-year-old Marco Ballotta against Catania.

“He is a lad who will have his opportunities in future. A youngster can make mistakes and we must not put too much pressure on him.

“I have decided that Ballotta will be the first choice again. We will think about the future at the end of this season.”

After the 0-0 Coppa Italia semi-final with Inter midweek, there are fears Lazio will be lacking in motivation.

“I would like to underline that we are not yet mathematically safe and must play for every point.

“Catania were given a major boost by the change of management, now we have to see if there is a lasting effect.”

The Biancocelesti are already looking to next term amid reports Goran Pandev and Valon Behrami are on the transfer market.

“In my view they should not be released, as they are part of the project and still young,” added Rossi.
