Ancelotti ignores Mou jibe
Wednesday 1 April, 2009

Carlo Ancelotti insists he’ll see out his contract with Milan, but refuses to respond to Jose Mourinho’s latest sideswipe.

Quoted by Goal.com, the Inter boss attacked the Rossoneri for allegedly being more ‘powerful’ than his own club.

"Ancelotti is protected by a massive club with great powers," Mourinho reportedly said.

"Everyone knows [President Silvio] Berlusconi has his back covered and he is powerful in Italy. Inter have no interest in the media. In any case, I don't have any problems with [Ancelotti].

"Inter are an independent club and we have no-one who gives us support. Who knows, other clubs may have the support and for them it's more difficult to speak badly of other teams than it is for us."

This is the latest attack from Mourinho on the supposed media bias towards Juventus, Milan and even Roma.

In March he already hinted Ancelotti had “lost his professional dignity” by allowing President Berlusconi to dictate the teamsheet.

“I have no intention of talking about Mourinho,” replied a fuming Ancelotti. “I won’t respond to anything he says.”

There are doubts over the tactician’s future with the Rossoneri, but he is confident of securing third place and Champions League qualification.

“My future is tied to the agreements I made with Milan until June 30 2010. There is a contract and both sides intend to respect it.”

Again today Spanish newspapers suggested he was the prime candidate to take over at Real Madrid next season, but potential replacement Leonardo has insisted he will remain a director and not branch into Coaching.

“There can’t be two of us as tacticians,” mused the Italian. “The objective is to get back into the Champions League and then experience a different season to the one we’ve just had. We need to finish in the top three.”

Ancelotti also replied to Kaka’s suggestions he recovered from injury far quicker on international duty with Brazil than in several weeks at San Siro.

“Clearly after five weeks there was bound to be an improvement, it just happened to coincide with his call for an international.”
