Carlo Ancelotti urges Milan to win all five remaining games to reach the Champions League and ruin Inter’s title dream.
“It is a tricky time for us and we are going into a very important match,” he said before tomorrow afternoon’s encounter with Reggina.
The four-point deficit to Fiorentina remains intact despite the Tuscans losing their last four away games on the trot.
“The whole Milan environment is shaken by the fact we can’t seem to close up this gap. We have thrown away a great deal despite good performances, such as against Roma and Juventus. But with five victories I think we’ll reach the Champions League.”
This could be a positive round for the Rossoneri, who take on relegation strugglers Reggina while Fiorentina face a reinvigorated Palermo.
“If tonight they failed to beat Palermo, that would be a remarkable opportunity for us,” conceded Ancelotti.
His team has a difficult run-in, specifically with the Milan derby on May 4.
“With five victories we would be able to achieve another objective ensuring Inter don’t win the Scudetto…”
The Coach has other problems to contend with, as Paolo Maldini is out for the rest of the season with a left thigh strain.
“It is not a simple lesion, but let us not get carried away with talk of his campaign or even career being over.”
Alexandre Pato and Massimo Oddo should be back in action after long-term setbacks.
