De Canio gives Roma IQ test
Saturday 18 April, 2009

Gigi De Canio tells Lecce they can get points off Roma on Sunday, as long as they play “an intelligent game.”

The Salentini's situation is getting desperate with seven rounds to go and three points separating them from the safety zone.

“I have tried to make it clear to my players that we need an intelligent game, one of great focus and the quality to make the most of the chances Roma allow us.

“I am counting on my squad's hunger and determination when taking on a top side, knowing they can do well.

“When you step on to the field it is always to win, but that doesn't depend on the number of strikers on the field.

“If you're playing against Roma, a team who are clearly stronger than we are, it has to be done with intelligence and the right approach.”

Both squads are missing key players, as the Giallorossi have Mirko Vucinic, Alexander Doni, Cicinho, Juan, Alberto Aquilani, Philippe Mexes and Christian Panucci sidelined.

Lecce are without the suspended Guillermo Giacomazzi, Giuseppe Vives and Raffaele Schiavi along with injured Daniele Cacia, Antunes and Angelo.
