Disgraced former Juventus chief Luciano Moggi casts his eye over tonight’s clash, from Jose ‘The Normal One’ Mourinho to Claudio Ranieri.
The Bianconeri welcome leaders Inter to the Stadio Olimpico this evening in a bitter grudge match at the top of the table, a rapport that deteriorated when Moggi’s shenanigans in the Calciopoli scandal saw Juve demoted to Serie B and stripped of two Scudetti.
“Inter always win now and the Juve directors are too ‘nice’ about it,” mused Moggi in Il Giorno newspaper.
“Mourinho’s hardly a Special One, if anything he’s The Normal One. It’s too easy to win with the champions in his squad. Another Coach would have taken them even further in the Champions League.”
The former director general is hardly impressed with the current set-up at Juventus, either.
“Ranieri is an isolated figure. He is not even liked by the club or the fans. This wouldn’t have happened when we were in charge, as when you choose a Coach then you have to protect him, always.
“In any case, personally I would not have made those transfer decisions like Jorge Andrade, Christian Poulsen and Tiago Mendes. With that money I’d have won the Scudetto and Champions League for two years in a row.
“The players are out of control too, they now go on television and complain. For example, with us [Alex] Del Piero would never have raised his voice in the media.”
Moggi may well have the opportunity to prove himself again in football, as he claims he is considering a comeback.
“In December I received an offer from a big European club who want to get back to the top of the continent, as their objective is to revamp and win the Champions League.
“I would be given the role of counsel to the President. It really is a huge club. I have to decide whether or not to accept this proposal, but I’ll make that decision in the next few days.”
