Novellino accepts Toro axe
Wednesday 16 April, 2008

Walter Novellino has admitted that he is no longer the Coach of Torino, but doesn’t want to discuss his dismissal.

Despite President Urbano Cairo’s initial insistence that he would stand by Novellino after last weekend’s 3-0 defeat against Genoa, it seems to have been the final straw.

Novellino arrived from Sampdoria in the summer with high hopes, but the Granata are at risk of relegation with just a three-point cushion from the drop zone and Cairo has lost faith in his Coach.

“I was in the bank when they called me,” the ousted tactician revealed to Calciomercato.it.

“I haven’t spoken to anyone yet and I don’t want to make any comment. I don’t need to say anything now, it’s
a horrible moment but I don’t want to talk about it.

“I understand the situation, but I will wait for a few days before I discuss it.”

Gianni De Biasi is set to be unveiled as Novellino’s successor later this afternoon.
