Kalac’s fourth faith
Wednesday 16 April, 2008

Milan goalkeeper Zeljko Kalac knows that every game is must-win for the Rossoneri from now on, but he still believes his side can finish fourth.

The world champions are facing the grim prospect of missing out on the Champions League as they trail fourth-placed Fiorentina by four points.

Last Saturday’s 3-2 defeat against Milan was a crushing blow to the Diavolo and it’s still a sore subject for Kalac.

“We conceded three goals and that’s a shame because we generally played well and deserved at least a point,” the 35-year-old told the Milan Channel.

“I won’t deny that it has left a bitter taste, but that’s the way it goes – that’s football.

“We have to look forward even if these kind of defeats have happened to us a lot this year.”

Milan must now take all three points against Reggina at San Siro this weekend in order to put the pressure on Fiorentina, who host Palermo.

“After the loss against Juventus we have to have a normal week,” Kalac stressed.

“It's essential that we don't think about what happened last week because we need to move on to preparing for the Reggina game.

“We haven’t discussed the game yet, but I think that we will tomorrow when we have double training.

“Mathematically, we are still in the race for the Champions League.

“We are four points behind, but lots of things can happen in five games.”
