Marino: Udinese can reach semi
Wednesday 15 April, 2009

Pasquale Marino believes Udinese “know what we have to do” to overturn their UEFA defeat to Werder Bremen.

The Friulani lost 3-1 in Germany and play the second leg of the quarter-final on Thursday evening.

“We know what we have to do in order to qualify and we are certainly not lacking the motivation,” smiled the Coach.

“The whole city is behind us and we are ready to face Werder in the way we need to. We all believe we can do it.

“There must be no panic, no blind rush to get the result. We just need to be precise, play the ball to feet, be clinical in front of goal and be very concentrated on set plays.”

Fabio Quagliarella will again start, as Antonio Di Natale is injured for the rest of the season, but the striker missed a hatful of scoring opportunities in Germany.

“He wasted a lot, but he also scored the goal that gave us hope of qualifying,” pointed out Marino.

“Quagliarella has no confidence concerns. He has scored many goals and is doing very well recently, creating plenty of chances.

“We must attack Werder and not pull our punches the same way we did in the first leg. If we play as we did in the second half in Bremen, then we have a great chance of going through.”

Werder’s star player Diego scored two goals in the first leg, but is still struggling with a right thigh problem and could miss out.

“Naturally if Diego should be out of the game it would be decisively better for us!” grinned Marino.
