Inter President Massimo Moratti has confessed that Adriano's contract could be torn up.
The Brazilian marksman went missing after a World Cup 2010 qualifier against Peru.
And after reappearing days later, Adriano announced that he would be taking an indefinite hiatus from the game - a decision that could end his relationship with Inter.
Perhaps the rescission of his contract could be a solution, Moratti admitted this afternoon.
I will wait until the right people have had meetings and once the lawyers and others have been consulted we will see what happens.
If he leaves, we can't deny him his freedom. We as a club have done everything we can for him, but he is doing the job he is paid to do.
Adriano's agent Gilmar Rinaldi has been in Italy's fashion capital this week for meetings, but as yet there is no definitive decision on L'Imperatore's future.
