The agent of Catanias Peruvian star Juan Manuel Vargas believes that he deserves a chance at Roma.
The versatile winger impressed last term after arriving from Argentine outfit Colón and the Sicilians reportedly refused a £3m bid from Roma before the start of this season.
Catanias sporting director Pietro Lo Monaco has now accepted that Vargas will leave and has given the capital club first refusal an offer which they are expected to take full advantage of.
Vargas is ready now to play for a big team, agent Carlos Alberto Delgado told Romanews.eu.
He has spent two years at Catania and now he wants to test himself at a prestigious club like Roma. He will certainly leave Sicily in June.
He doesnt necessarily need to always be a starter because there arent first-choice players and reserves at big clubs there are three or four players competing for a place and its not easy to be picked all the time.
I cant say that if I have had contact with Roma because I had to know Catanias plans first. I dont want to show a lack of respect to the Elefanti.
Vargas is expected to fetch at least £4m, but a part-exchange deal may appeal to Catania, although nothing can be decided until they know whether they will be competing in Serie A or B next term.
