Cambiasso: There was no crisis
Monday 14 April, 2008

Inter midfielder Esteban Cambiasso was delighted by last night’s win over Fiorentina and insists that the Nerazzurri were never in crisis.

The leaders have stuttered somewhat over the last month and were under pressure to deliver last night after Roma cut their advantage to just a single point with a win over Udinese.

But Roberto Mancini’s men stepped up to the mark and beat fourth-placed Fiorentina 2-0 to reassert themselves at the top.

“Have the real Inter returned? I don’t think we were ever gone,” Cambiasso, who scored the opening goal, told Sky Sport Italia.

“We played very well against one of the best teams in the League. There’s one less match to play and we still have the same advantage.

“After our elimination from the Champions League, we beat Palermo and drew against Genoa with 10 men.

“We suffered against Juventus and Lazio, but we have maintained our lead. However, there are a few games to play and we must still respect our opponents.

“Do I think this is a decisive step towards the title? According to some journalists we’ve already lost the Scudetto five times,” the Argentine international quipped.

Inter and Roma both face struggling sides next weekend, as the Beneamata travel to Torino and the Giallorossi host Livorno.
