Prandelli urges patience
Saturday 11 April, 2009

Cesare Prandelli has told Fiorentina not to leave themselves open to Cagliari’s counter-attacks. “Patience will be crucial.”

The Sardinians have been on exceptional form and are now just two places behind the Viola in the Serie A table.

“We are aware this side is no fluke. We must not rush anything, instead look for the right moment and strike then,” explained the Coach.

“We are relaxed. A very enthusiastic team is coming here because Cagliari do not feel the pressure to get a result. I would like to see an entertaining game with Fiorentina emerging victorious.”

Prandelli hinted at adopting the 4-4-2 system again, although Felipe Melo is still a doubt to start after suffering from flu symptoms.

Adrian Mutu, Mario Alberto Santana, Massimo Gobbi and Per Kroldrup are out of action, so Stevan Jovetic should start.

“I saw him more confident during the week,” said the Coach after the debut goal from the spot.

“I picked him to take the penalty because I thought he was better in this situation than [Alberto] Gilardino. I like that he took the responsibility on his shoulders.”

Fiorentina squad: Almiron, Bonazzoli, Comotto, Dainelli, Donadel, Frey, Gamberini, Gilardino, Jorgensen, Jovetic, Kuzmanovic, Melo, Montolivo, Pasqual, Semioli, Storari, Vargas, Zauri.
