Udinese hitman Fabio Quagliarella has angrily distanced himself from quotes attributed to him suggesting he would welcome a switch to Napoli.
The 25-year-old was born near Naples in Castellammare di Stabia, but has never had the chance to play for his hometown club.
Quagliarella has been a key figure in Udinese’s superb campaign and is seen as a foundation for the club’s future, so Zebrette fans were surprised when the Corriere del Mezzogiorno said he could join Napoli next term.
“I want to categorically deny having given the interview that was printed today,” he raged.
“I have never made declarations of this kind to this journalist.
“I want to reiterate once more that I am happy to play for Udinese and I want to enjoy great success here, where I am tied by contract until 2012.”
