Sensi proud of defeated Roma
Thursday 10 April, 2008

Roma chief Rosella Sensi has applauded the efforts of her Giallorossi in Europe, but refuses to discuss the takeover bid that is reportedly imminent.

Many experts believe that American billionaire George Soros will buy the Sensi family out of Roma within the next few weeks.

Sensi failed to attend last night’s defeat at Old Trafford, sending the rumour mill into overdrive, but she has explained the true reason for her absence.

“I was ill and stuck at home with the ‘flu’, despite the lies that were made up to explain my absence in Manchester,” she explained in the Corriere dello Sport.

The capital club’s leader refused to comment any further on actions behind the scenes and instead insisted upon commending Roma’s efforts in the Champions League this term.

“There was a bitter taste in the mouth after the game because we didn’t get through and we could have,” Sensi bemoaned. “We didn’t have anything less than a great Manchester United team.

“I am proud to be a Romanista and to have these lads out there on the pitch. Roma left the Champions League with their heads held high.

“We have a great Coach and great players. I feel prouder than ever of this team. If we play with that spirit, we will do well on Sunday with the help of the fans.”

Sensi concluded with a word of sympathy for Daniele De Rossi, who missed a crucial first half spot-kick last night.

“All in all, De Rossi gave the side spirit,” she said. “It’s a shame that he missed the penalty because he is a Roman too and he loves this team.”
