Paolo Marco Aurelio Cunha, the sporting director of Brazilian side Sao Paulo, claims that troubled striker Adriano needs psychiatric help.
Adriano has decided to take a break from football after disappearing while on international duty with Brazil.
The Inter outcast has been blighted by personal problems over the last few years and may now seek professional help.
Adriano needs therapy and to be constantly followed by psychiatrists, Cunha said to Brazilian newspaper Extra.
He has internal conflicts that need to be resolved. It's not like Adriano drinks every day but he has impulses that are stronger than him.
If he goes out at night he can't stop himself and then he regrets it tomorrow night.
It's a self-destructive pattern because he knows he will end up miserable and depressed.
