The WACA (Western Australia Cricket Association) ground made its international bow for the Ashes Test in December 1970 and for many years was a prosperous hunting ground for the world's fastest bowlers with its pacy, bouncy track. Pleasantly appointed in comparison with some of the bigger stadiums on the East Coast, the WACA is a collection of stands under the watchful eye of the ground's dominant floodlights; it's a popular venue with spectators (most of whom would have to travel thousands of miles to watch Test cricket anywhere else).
