VENUE PROFILE

Colombo (SSC)

 Colombo (SSC)

The Sinhalese Sports Club ground, previously known as Maitland Place, was originally the headquarters of Sri Lankan cricket when it opened in 1952.

Staged Sri Lanka's second Test and had subsequently hosted 21 more before England's arrival in November 2003. Now has a ground capacity of 30,000.

England have experienced mixed fortunes there, losing by five wickets in 1992/3 but triumphing memeorably by four wickets in 2000/1 when Graham Thorpe (113 and 32no) steered the tourists home.
