VENUE PROFILE

Durban (Kingsmead)

 Durban (Kingsmead)

Staged South Africa's first Test after readmission to international cricket, against India in 1992 and also the timeless Test against England in 1939, which ran from the 3rd to the 14th of March.

Durban is the main tourist area in South Africa, and has a big Indian population who help to create a fervent atmosphere at the ground.

Usually has a lively, seamer-friendly wicket, though it quietened down when Gary Kirsten denied England with 275, the joint-highest individual innings by a South African, on their 1999-2000 tour.

Home of Natal cricket and is located in the centre of the town.
