Rawalpindi is a city of teeming streets and busy bazaars whose Cricket Stadium was unveiled as a new venue for internationals during the World Cup of 1996.
The 15,000 seat stadium is one of the more attractive in Pakistan with an pleasant (if concrete) pavilion and a park nearby.
The ground is perched on the edge of Rawalpindi and only three miles from the capital Islamabad, a purpose-built city began in the 1960s and still being expanded.
Rawalpindi's most famous son is the fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, who was nicknamed the Rawalpindi Express.
However, after spending any length of time in the city you'll find it hard to believe that anything could be named The Express, with the roads and trains clogged to breaking point.
