VENUE PROFILE

Christchurch

A ground that was originally used purely for rugby, Lancaster Park in Christchurch, which is also known as the Jade Stadium, staged the first Test match in New Zealand in 1930, having been opened for cricket in 1882.

The recently-built Hadlee stand boasts a viewing gallery and with the surrounding South Island landscape makes for an appealing setting.

Christchurch was the scene of perhaps New Zealand's most famous victory, in 1984 when they thrashed England by an innings and 132 runs, bowling them out for 82 and 93.
