The Chepauk Stadium in Chennai, which was formerly known as Madras, and cricket has been played on this ground since 1865 with the first Test in 1934.
Test matches at this ground are traditionally associated with the Pongal (Harvest) festival, a three-day holiday.
Has been the stage for some famous Test matches and performances. Hosted the second and most recent tied Test, between India and Australia in 1986-87, and a year later Narendra Hirwani destroyed the West Indies with 16-136, the best match analysis ever recorded by a Test debutant.
The ground is known for the knowledgeable, fair nature of its crowd; even Pakistan were given a standing ovation when they clinched a thrilling 12-run victory in 1998-99.
