Glamorgan acquired ownership of Sophia Gardens in 1995 and since then have launched an extensive rebuilding programme. Situated by the River Taff the ground has been boosted by the addition of covered seating, a new media centre, sponsors' boxes, bars, restaurants, improved car parking and road access. Glamorgan have made it their county home, after years of switching between several venues in Wales, and the ground hosted a World Cup match in 1999.
