A strong contender for the most attractive Test ground in the world, The Adelaide Oval comes as a welcome relief when compared to the vast concrete and steel edifices favoured elsewhere in Australia. Set in parkland close to the city's university, the ground is dominated by large, sweeping stands along one side, an open 'hill' in front of the huge scoreboard, and long, long straight boundaries. The ground nestles under the shadow of St Peter's Cathedral.
