CRICKET ROADSHOWS
 |
Week 5 Preview - 9 Jun, Cardiff
Roadshow takes on Australian flavour |
The Cricket Roadshow takes on a distinctly Australian flavour on Saturday as Mark and Sybil take a closer look at Steve Waugh's team before they play Pakistan at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.
The morning programme will be broadcast live from the Welsh ground just prior to one-day match, but Roadshow viewers will get a sneak preview of the Australian squad and how they've settled in since arriving last week.
Particular focus will be turned on Brett Lee, the Aussie pace-man vying with Shoaib Akhtar to claim the fastest bowler in the world sobriquet.
Lee has taken the sport by storm since making his Test debut in December 1999, grabbing 42 wickets in just seven matches at an incredible strike rate of just 32.6. Injuries have prevented further mayhem but Lee has flown in fit and raring to go as he prepares for his Ashes debut.
The programme will also look back at Thursday's clash between England and Pakistan at Edgbaston and weigh up the host nation's chances of success in the tri-nation NatWest Series.
In light of the continuing debate about umpires and the use of technology especially after the peculiar goings on in the 2nd Test at Old Trafford the Roadshow will also examine ways to improve potentially crucial no-ball calls.
Is the answer to hand over more power to the third umpire watching a television monitor or could a similar system to Wimbledon's Cyclops (or Magic Eye) be developed to eradicate all human error?
Email the show with your views on the subject and how it could best be addressed, if indeed it needs to be.
Viewers will also be able to experience what it's like being an umpire thanks to exclusive footage from a Helmet Cam used during a league match, while other features on this week's show include a look at the only all Asian team to be playing league cricket in Wales, the usual Masterclass and Jokes & Jaffas sections, as well as the ever-popular Q&A in response to emails.
