Week 3 Preview - 26 May, Hove
Roadshow to examine match-fixing crisis |
The continuing scandal of match-fixing refuses to go away but what are your views on how the worst crisis to hit the sport is being dealt with?
On Saturday the Cricket Roadshow comes from Sussex's home ground at Hove, and will give its verdict on the unseemly stench of corruption still pervading the international cricket world, reflecting on Sir Paul Condon's interim report which was published on Wednesday.
Is the problem being taken seriously? Are matches still being thrown? Does the ICC have the necessary determination and legal clout to weed out the wastrels and crooks? Are life bans sufficient deterrent?
Can a cricket match ever be viewed with complete innocence in the future, or have the gangsters, gamblers and crooked players polluted the game beyond rescue?
All these questions need answers and action, but how do you think the inquiry is being dealt with so far and do you have faith that the game can eventually be given a clean bill of health?
Should matches which have been fixed be erased from the record books, or is it time to draw a line in the sand and start afresh?
Three international captains have already been handed life-time bans; how many more will follow?
All these issues need addressing as soon as possible and Saturday gives you the chances to have your say by contacting the show via our email service.
Another topic up for discussion is the creeping influence of technology on the sport and how best it should be incorporated.
Channel 4 has already successfully introduced the Snickometer and the Red Zone, and last week saw us unveil Hawk-Eye. What did you think of our latest innovation? Did you trust it? Did it help you to enjoy the game? Should it be used by the third umpire when making lbw decisions?
On Saturday's show Dr Paul Hawkins will be on hand to explain how and why he invented Hawk-Eye, while Australian Test umpire Darell Hair assesses its impact during England's victory in the 1st Test at Lord's.
And if that wasn't enough controversy for a weekend morning then former England and Sussex captain Tony Greig will also be on hand to add his forthright views, ex-South African coach Bob Woolmer takes the Masterclass session and England's latest new-boy Ian Ward gets the player-profile treatment.
The new Roadshow feature 'Jaffas and Jokers' will also be included, with any nominations for this week's heroes and villains gladly accepted.
All-in-all, it's a pretty impressive way to kick-start the Bank Holiday weekend.
