Mark Nicholas
Meet The Team

Name: Mark Nicholas

DoB: 29.9.1957

Known as: MCJ

Position: Anchorman

Cricket CV: Stylish right-handed batsman who played 18 seasons for his beloved county Hampshire, captaining them between 1985-1995 and leading them to a brace of B&H Cup victories (1988 and 1992) and a NatWest Trophy triumph (1991). Also captained England 'A' on tour in Zimbabwe (1989-90). Ended first-class career with 18,262 runs at 34.39, including 36 hundreds and with a top score of 206*. Moved into cricket broadcasting in 1996 with Sky and after three years was chosen by Channel 4 to front its coverage in 1999. Also writes a weekly column for The Daily Telegraph.

Career highlight: Captained Hampshire to three domestic one-day triumps, captained England 'A' on tour and being named Sports Presenter of the Year in 2001 by the Royal Television Society.

Extraneous: Known for his suave appearance and urbane presentation – dare one say he's become a 'housewives' favourite' - Nicholas is also a keen golfer who describes his own style as "exhibition golf without an exhibition swing". Other interests include wine and the theatre (his mother was an actress). Ventured beyond cricket to present ITV's Survivor show in 2002.

Most likely to say: "Mamma mia", "Oh, dreamy stuff", "Gee, this boy's got talent", "Crackerjack".

Least likely to say: "Do you think the unkempt look suits me?"

Not to be confused with: Charlie Nicholas, Melvyn Bragg, Ant and Dec.
