CV: Has worked in television since 1977 but didn't move into cricket coverage until 1990. Cut his teeth initially with TWI in the Caribbean and India before joining Grand Slam Sports to work on the 1996 Cricket World Cup, in which he directed the final. Moved to Sky for 1997/98 before joining Sunset+Vine in 1999 to steer the company's successful bid to produce cricket for Channel 4. Has been executive producer of Channel 4 cricket ever since, freelancing abroad during the winters.
Career highlight: Directing two Cricket World Cup finals.
Extraneous: Has an all-consuming passion for Arsenal FC, including being an avid collector of programmes and queued to have his photo taken with the FA Cup and Premier League trophies after the Gunners had completed the 'double'. Is currently basking in the glory of another Cup Final win, even though Arsenal were rubbish on the day.
Most likely to say: "I know Freddy's on a hat-trick but have you seen the quality of paper Arsenal's new programme is being printed on?"
Least likely to say: "No more library footage of old Pathe news clips please".
Not to be confused with: A Manchester United fan from Buckinghamshire.
