Dermot Reeve, OBE
Meet The Team

Name: Dermot Reeve, OBE

DoB: 2.4.1963

Known as: "Derm", "Reevo"

Cricket CV: Made his debut for Sussex in 1983 but spent more time polishing his Imran Khan impersonation than attracting the national selectors before he moved on to Warwickshire. Captained his second county to six trophies in three years, including three in 1995, also earning himself 25 ODI caps (including appearances in two World Cups) and three Test appearances along the way. An innovative player and captain, in many ways Reeve was ahead of his time in the one-day game and was treated with suspicion. Coached Somerset after retiring but now concentrates on his television punditry with Channel 4.

Career highlight: Represented England at both Test and ODI level, winning three trophies as captain of Warwickshire in 1995 and twice getting Man of the Match awards in domestic one-day finals.

Extraneous: Born and educated in Hong Kong, Reeve is a keen golfer, a prolific and humourous after-dinner speaker, an expert impressionist (especially of Imran Khan and Geoff Boycott) and a frustrated rock star (Red Hot Chilli Peppers if possible). Became a father again over the winter and gave his son the middle name of Benaud in tribute to his fellow commentator. Received the OBE for services to cricket and recently took part in the rebirth of cult 1980s TV show 'Superstars'.

Most likely to say: "I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one Michael"

Least likely to say: "Let's have a quiet one", "I thought I was very fairly treated by the England selectors", "That Brian Lara was a delight to captain, a selfless and complete team man".

Not to be confused with: Brian Jacks, a musician.
