England took four overs of the third day to take the last two
Bangladesh wickets and complete a 10th successive home Test victory by an innings and 27 runs at the Riverside.
man of the Match Matthew Hoggard grabbed the last two batsmen with his trademark outswingers to end with 5-73 as Bangladesh were bowled out for 316, having added 19 runs to their overnight score.
The only runs from the bat came from Aftab Ahmed, who took his score to 82* with the help of a sliced boundary over the slips from Steve Harmison and a more elegant straight drive for four. It was the
highest score by a Bangladesh batsman against England.
Both wickets fell in the space of four balls in the fourth over, as
Tapash Baisya (18) edged to Geraint Jones, then three balls later
Anwar Hossain (0) edged to Marcus Trescothick at first slip, who
juggled the ball then caught it. It had taken England 17 minutes and
26 balls to end the match.
