  Michael Slater's verdict:

29-year-old Stuart Clark is a similar operator to Glenn McGrath, being a very tall line and length bowler who relies on his accuracy to frustrate batsmen into making mistakes.

He does not get much movement in the air but hits the deck hard and his disciplined lengths make him quite a handful at a McGrath-like pace of around 85mph. I think he's an outstanding bowler and would do a great job for Australia if called upon.

Clark is a new-ball bowler and if he does come into Australia's side he is likely to open the bowling. My only worry is that he is a little underdone because he's only just come over and the Australian pre-season training has only just begun back home. But he showed some form with a five-for for Middlesex the week before the 3rd Test.

I've played quite a bit of cricket with Clark and he's a lovely, quiet sort of guy who is very dedicated to the game of cricket. But he has also found time to develop another career outside the game by working in real estate in the Sydney area.
