Q: What is the highest last wicket stand in Ashes Tests?

A: The highest is 130 between England's Reginald Foster (287) and Wilf Rhodes (40*) at Sydney in 1903-4, while the best for Australia is 127 between Johnny Taylor (108) and Arthur Mailey (46*), also at Sydney but in 1924-5.

During the recent Edgbaston Test Alec Stewart (65) and Andy Caddick (49*) put on 103 for the last wicket in England's first innings, bringing up the 100 in 56 minutes off 74 balls, while Adam Gilchrist (152) and Glenn McGrath (1*) added 64 for Australia in their first, and only, innings. Both were new ground records for England and Australia respectively.
