I Innings - In the V

Simon Hughes

Innings - used to describe a team's turn at batting and an individual batsman's time batting. Winning 'by an innings' means one team has scored more in their only batting turn than the other has in two complete efforts.

Inswing - a ball curving in the air from left to right (to a right-handed batsman). The greatest modern exponent was Imran Khan.

In the V - shots played in a narrow V shaped area either side of the bowler, with the batsman being the base of the V. In other words, straight batting. Copyright material reproduced under license from Macmillan Publishers Ltd. London, England
