Scoring zones
This is the kind of batsman's scorechart you'll see on Channel 4 showing where a particular right-hander scores runs.
Reading a scorechart
Sherwin Campbell, like teammate Brian Lara, likes to open the face of his bat and score runs by slicing the ball through square on the off side. This is quite a controlled shot, angled through the covers. If you know that this is a batsman's favourite shot you can set the field accordingly.
You will see on the scorechart (above) that most of his runs have been scored in an area square and behind square of the wicket on the off side. This is due to his rather loose driving. He hardly ever hits the ball straight, meaning there is not much need for fielders close to the bowler on either side. Opposing teams will know these traits and try to allow for them. More men will be stationed in the cover-point area and even behind square on the off side, and the bowlers will be advised to keep the ball fullish and not give him any width outside off stump.
