Nick Middleton in a wind tunnel

Nick takes a look at some of the most devastating winds to hit our shores. The 117mph gales of 1987, the 93mph winds of 2000, the Birmingham tornado of 2005 and the 2006 tornado in Kensal Rise, to name but a few. Britain, it turns out, is the windiest place in Europe and has more tornadoes per square mile than any other country in the world.

Nick takes his life in his own hands when he steps into a wind tunnel and stands up to 100 mph gusts. Not satisfied, he takes a trip to Tyree, the windiest place in Britain.
