Ben is determined to become an astronaut so his life revolves around
doing everything in his power to achieve his lifetime ambition.
He is currently studying for his second degree in Physical Sciences
through the Open University. After that, he plans to do a PHD. He
is also a retained fireman for Suffolk Fire Service, an 'A' Level
Math's and Physics tutor and a landlord.
Ben has a CV extraordinaire. He has tried and done almost everything!
He taught himself computer programming at a young age, starting
off by fixing a number of computers, so by 16 he had set up his
own computer business Tristem Enterprises to earn some money
(since shut down although he still does computer repairs). Ben spent
a year working with Mott MacDonald Consulting Engineers before doing
his first degree in Information Systems Engineering.
During his degree, he learnt to fly with the Royal Air Force. He
was awarded fast-jet training as the most dedicated student and
was tested to fast jet pilot standard.
Ben has also tried sharedealing but he decided it wasn't worth
the time and hassle.
Ben is very determined and confident in his own abilities - when
he gets something into his head, he won't let it go.
He has a stunt and firearms certificate and has turned his hand
to high diving, abseiling, motorcycling, rock climbing, trampolining,
kung-fu, gymnastics and scuba diving. He's a black-belt in Taekwondo,
a freefall skydiving licence and a commendation in the 1994 British
Physics Olympiad, held for promising students in physics.
And if that wasn't enough, Ben's other hobbies are mountain biking,
piano, fixed wing and para motor flying, computing, weightlifting,
piano,Water sports, computer gaming, paragliding, Yoga, amateur
astronomy and Rhoenrads (Wheel gymnastics in 2m-diameter wheel!).
